The need to-have add-ons for your expert makeup set
In addition to the wide variety of professional-quality cosmetics, there are a number of must-have items in your work bag or portable dressing room.
First, don't rule out investing in a good portfolio to carry
all your precious work items. And why not, enjoy a portable dressing room with
a mirror, lamps, and compartments.
Makeup chair
An important element, both for the well-being of the
professional make-up artist and the person applying make-up, is the possibility
of enjoying the comfort of a particular chair for the task, especially during
long work sessions. The seat can be adjusted in height so that the makeup
artist can work standing up without bending over. It has a flexible fabric
structure that supports the model's back and headrest, so the head remains
immobile and supported for as long as necessary.
Palettes
The blending palette is an essential element when a makeup
artist is working with foundation or cream products. Sometimes a makeup artist
will use multiple products to achieve the most appropriate skin tone for a
model. Similarly, the palette is a great surface to place lipstick chunks that
can be carefully trimmed with a putty knife. The makeup artist can collect the
required amount from the palette, cleaner or more mixed, depending on the area
of the lips that he fills. It is also very useful when creating great makeup
that requires many shades, for example with different watercolors.
Brushes
Brushes are essential when working with powdered products,
whether they are setting powders, concealers, translucent or others. The large
brush is used to evenly distribute the product over the entire surface of the
face and neck.
Support brushes serve a completely different purpose. They
are made from a small strip of fabric that you can insert your fingers into.
With them we can gently lean on the model's face while applying makeup, trying
not to spoil our work.
Makeup fixer
This product creates a light transparent layer on the makeup
surface, setting the result on the watch. It also makes it difficult to dye the
garment when rubbed. They are formulas that are sprayed on the face or body.
Makeup protector
You can have a hairdresser style dress to protect the
wardrobe (think that many times the model is applied to a client with the
clothes already on), but there is the option of including a disposable makeup
protective wrap in your kit.
Sponge
Makeup remover
Sometimes the person we are going to work with is ready and
we need a clean base to start with. To do this, you can always have makeup
remover sponges on hand to remove the previous remains. You may have to do a
different makeup in one session that must start from scratch. Or at the end of
a photoshoot or a show, the model needs to be removed, especially if it is a
colorful and fantastic design.
